www.fawnriver.org is still a work in progress. Volunteers are working hard to scan and convert the documents you may want to see that answer some of the following questions. In the coming weeks we will send out e-mail alerts when substantial new information is added.

Some of the questions that will be answered with hard evidence from actual state government documents are:

WHY DID THE IDNR KILL FAWN RIVER?

We hope after reviewing the information on this web site that you are already asking yourself this obvious question. Over the coming weeks internal IDNR documents will be posted that address the difficult truths.

WHY DOES THE STATE OF INDIANA REFUSE TO CLEAN UP FAWN RIVER?

We don't have a complete answer for this question, but it seems, in part, to be the result of internal failure of communication from IDNR officials to other state officials in state government, such as Frank O'Bannon who can order the cleanup of Fawn River to begin tomorrow. By statute, the Indiana Legislature has provided the Governor the authority to settle lawsuits pending against the State of Indiana.

We will be posting documents and letters to and from State Officials on this very question.

CAN THE STATE OF INDIANA BE FORCED TO CLEAN UP THE FAWN RIVER?

Yes. Lawsuits are pending in federal and state courtrooms. Documents and information on the status of those lawsuits will be posted in the future. For now, you should know the Fawn River Plaintiffs have won the first big victory in federal court. But why is it that justice for the Fawn River must come from a courtroom? Why do state agencies and officials refuse to do their jobs when it is their own employees that destroy our Hoosier natural resources?

DOES THE DESTRUCTION OF FAWN RIVER RELATE TO OTHER HOOSIER ENVIRONMENTAL DISASTERS SUCH AS WHITE RIVER?

It does. We will show you why over the coming weeks.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH INDIANA'S ENVIRONMENTAL RECORD?

Indiana is one of the most polluted and polluter-friendly states in the nation. The Hoosier record on the environment is a legacy of shame and mismanagement. We are going to show why and what it takes to turn it all around.

IS THERE ANYONE AT IDNR WHO CAN BE TRUSTED TO MANAGE INDIANA'S NATURAL RESOURCES?

Yes, many. There are some amazingly talented and caring folks within IDNR at all levels. We will tell you who they are and what needs to be done to grant them the authority and means necessary to protect Indiana's natural resources for the future, so that such things like the killing of Fawn River become just a bad piece of a good agency's history.
